The Council would like to record its thanks for the hard work and commitment of those councillors who served during the last 4 years, and who have decided not to stand for selection this time. They are Lyn Mumford, Linda Cameron, Pete Gibbons, Sue Brooks, Marion Susans and Helen Fowler. All gave valuable service to the village.
The function of the Council is to try and safeguard, support and maintain the village and its many organisations and facilities, and to present the village viewpoint to the District and County Councils, and to our local M.P.
We therefore need to know the village’s views and concerns in order to carry out this function, so we urge you all to keep us informed via the Parish office, of your views, positive as well as negative, on the many issues that are happening and will happen over the coming years.
Without your input the Council can only use its best judgement to make decisions which may affect you.
There are several major developments occurring at the moment which will impact on the village. Some are listed below, but will be covered in greater detail in future newsletters:-
The Cement Works Development. A planning application is currently being presented to South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC). It apparently consists of a vast amount of paperwork. The PC awaits details for our comments.
The Village Hall re-furbishment. The plans have been approved and the Hall committee is now in the process of locating funds.
The Village Hall is not owned or operated by the Parish Council, but we do support the Hall committee with financial grants.
The Playing Fields and Pavilion re-development. The P.C recently renewed the Chinnor Playing Fields Management Committee (CPFMC) lease to run the field.
The new lease followed very closely the requirements of the old lease to run the fields for organised sports and recreation, and the CPFMC are now actively considering plans for a new pavilion and a re-organisation of the field.
Other areas of interest and concern:
Traffic, parking, youth provision, elderly persons’ accommodation, vandalism, and litter.
Finally; a new Chinnor Guide is being prepared by Councillors Marfleet and Mantle.
Any organisation
wishing to be included, or business wishing to advertise, should contact them
through the Parish Office. Once published, the guide will be distributed to all
households in the village, and will also be available to new residents when
they move into the village.
